*NEW* PG's Tips blog: writing tips and advice

Fees as of January 1st, 2007:

Journal rate. I charge US$125 when editing manuscripts of 25 pages or fewer that are intended for submission to a journal. For longer manuscripts, my fee is US$5 per page.

Thesis/book rate. I charge US$125 for the editing of each chapter of a thesis or book (or $US5 per page, whichever is the larger).

For guaranteed faster return. If you have a deadline, I will charge you US$175 ($7 per page) for the editing and guaranteed return of your manuscript within 7 days; within 4 days, my fee will be US$225 ($9 per page). Otherwise, I will return the manuscript as soon as possible, depending upon my workload.

If I take too long. If I don't return your edited manuscript within 21 days, I will provide you with a discount of 50%.

Short documents. If you want me to edit a letter or referee's report that is only one or two pages long, my fee will be US$20.

Please note my definition of a "page": US Letter-sized paper, 1-inch (2.54-cm) margins on all sides, 12-point font, and double-spaced. If you send me a document that has been formatted using a journal's template, I will estimate the corresponding page length and let you know my fee before I begin to edit the manuscript.

What do you get for these prices? High-quality editing of your manuscript for as many drafts as it takes for you to be happy with its presentation. Editing of your cover letter. Editing of a revised version of the manuscript that takes into account the concerns of the reviewers. Proofreading of the galley proofs.
